Pitt Sponsors Kabak Conference on International Conflict Resolution Oct. 10-11
PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and the University Center for International Studies are jointly sponsoring the Kabak Conference on International Conflict Resolution Oct. 10 and 11 in the Victoria Building, 3500 Victoria St., Oakland.
The conference will explore the process of international conflict resolution and peacemaking; its social, cultural, and political dimensions; and the role of women, nongovernmental organizations, and community-based initiatives. Case studies will focus on postconflict Rwanda and the ongoing strife between Israel and Palestine.
Academics, practitioners, and activists will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops and to forge collaborative relationships. Community members are especially encouraged to participate.
The conference is made possible through a gift from 1939 Pitt graduate Babette Kabak.
The $25 registration fee, which includes meals and materials, is waived for full-time students. To register, contact Diana Beitko at 412-648-7415, or e-mail dlbeitko@ucis.pitt.edu by Oct. 6. Additional information is available by visiting www.ucis.pitt.edu/kabakconf/.
