Pitt's Kuntu Repertory Theatre to Conduct Programs at Community Senior Centers
PITTSBURGH—As part of an ongoing effort to promote arts in the community, the University of Pittsburgh's Kuntu Repertory Theatre (KRT) will conduct free public Seniors in Action programs at 2 p.m. May 12 in the Elderado McKinley Center, 900 Delmont Ave., Beeltzhoover, and at 11 a.m. May 21 in the Elderado Senior Center, 320 Brownsville Rd., Mt. Oliver.
The programs, which will feature senior citizens singing songs, reciting poetry and dramatic pieces, and participating in panel discussions, cap a year of workshops at the centers facilitated by KRT.
Seniors in Action is made possible through a grant from the Birmingham Foundation, which provides cultural outreach activities for residents of senior citizen care centers in Pittsburgh's southern neighborhoods. Other senior sites involved in the program include the South Side Senior Market House and one in Carrick.
For more information about the program, call KRT, a part of the Department of Africana Studies at Pitt, at 412-624-7298.
