Pitt Career Services and Alumni Association Launch New Online Service for Pitt Alumni and Students

Contact:

PITTSBURGH-Pitt's Career Services and Alumni Association (PAA) will launch Pitt Career Network, a new, free online Web site providing networking services for those seeking career contacts, advice, and insight. The site is scheduled to be available by the fall semester.

Beginning July 5, Pitt alumni interested in becoming contacts can enter professional information in an online profile using their registered Alumni Online Services ID and password. Once the profile list is constructed, students, using their Pitt username, and alumni can customize searches of the profiles based on each or all of the following fields: industry, job function, metro area, job title, volunteer activities, employer name, etc.

The networking site has been in development since last fall and is the result of information obtained from the 2002-2003 Attitude Survey distributed by the Pitt Alumni Association. According to the survey, Pitt alumni of all ages rate identifying job opportunities for graduates as the most important issue in which alumni should be involved.

Career Services and PAA anticipate 1,000 alumni profiles by the upcoming fall semester and 2,000 by commencement 2006.
