Acoustic Swing to Perform at Pitt Oct. 20

PITTSBURGH-The trio Acoustic Swing will present "Festive Autumn Hues," a musical program at the University of Pittsburgh, as part of the Heinz Chapel Pittsburgh Artists Series at 8 p.m. Oct. 20 in Heinz Memorial Chapel, Fifth and Bellefield avenues, Oakland. The series is part of the chapel's larger Trio of Concerts Series.

Acoustic Swing explores traditional music and a range of jazz styles specially arranged for the group. The concert will include classics from the Dixieland era; swing works from the repertoires of Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Charlie Christian; bossa novas by Antonio Carlos Jobim; standards by Jerome Kern and Irving Berlin; and dance tunes from the Misirlou to the rumba.

Other upcoming Pittsburgh Artist Series performances are by the Douglass Levine Trio, the Mike Tomaro Quintet, Daphne Alderson, and Robert Sutherland Lord and Roger Zahab.

Admission is $12 for all concerts with the exception of the Feb. 14 Valentine's Concert, which is $20. Tickets for the entire concert series are $50.
