Pitt's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs Presents Conference on Urban and Regional Renewal in Western Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH-Pitt's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) will present a free public conference Nov. 17 to focus on issues surrounding urban and regional renewal in Western Pennsylvania. Current research on issues affecting governance in the region will be presented, including, housing, demographics, and attitudes toward shared governance. The event will be held in 2500 Wesley W. Posvar Hall, 230 S. Bouquet St.; registration begins at 9 a.m.

Discussion topics will be led by GSPIA faculty and include suburban sprawl, public transportation, economic vitality, University-community partnerships to help create and sustain positive redevelopment, and the preparedness of the next generation of policymakers to confront regional challenges in Western Pennsylvania.

The event is cosponsored by Pitt's Community Outreach Partnership Center, the Coro Center for Civic Leadership in Pittsburgh, Local Government Academy, Legislative Office of Research Liaison, and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
