Pitt and the Salvation Army to Host "Christmas Day at Pitt"

300 needy adults and children to participate

PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh and the Salvation Army are teaming up to celebrate Christmas Day with 300 needy adults and children from noon to 2 p.m.

Dec. 25 during "Christmas Day at Pitt: A Salvation Army Dinner for the Homeless and Needy" in Eddie's, a restaurant in the Litchfield Towers, 3955 Forbes Ave., Oakland.

The dinner will be prepared by volunteer staff from the Sodexho University Dining Services. Approximately 70 volunteers from Pitt's Volunteer Pool will welcome guests and serve the meal.

Each guest will receive a gift bag, which will include a hat-and-glove set donated by a University employee during the Office of Community Relations December hat-and-glove drive. In addition, the nearly 100 children in attendance will be given an "Angel Tree" gift supplied by Pitt staff from the Offices of the Chancellor, Provost, Community Relations, Governmental Relations, Institutional Advancement, and Human Resources.

The event is sponsored by Pitt's Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and the Sodexho University Dining Services.
