University of Pittsburgh to Host Panel Discussion, "Sharing Sovereignty: 50 Years of the European Union"

PITTSBURGH-In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome, which led to the formation of the European Union, Pitt will host diplomats from four member states of the European Union in a panel discussion focusing on the experience of shared sovereignty in Europe. The free public panel discussion, titled "Sharing Sovereignty: 50 Years of the European Union," will be held at 3 p.m. March 20 in the Lower Lounge of the William Pitt Union, 3959 Fifth Ave., Oakland. A reception will follow.

The diplomats participating in the panel discussion will be Laurent Delahousse, first counselor, Embassy of France; Søren Jensen, deputy chief of mission, Embassy of Denmark; Miriam Mozgan, deputy chief of mission, Embassy of Slovenia; and Paul Schmit, deputy chief of mission, Embassy of Luxembourg.
