PITTSBURGH- The University of Pittsburgh's Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration will host an address on values and ethics by Sharon Allen, chairman of the board of Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, at 1:45 p.m. Sept. 19 in the 1st-floor auditorium of Bellefield Hall, 315 S. Bellefield Ave., Oakland. Deloitte & Touche USA is the country's largest professional services and accounting firm with revenues of nearly
$10 billion.
In her remarks, Allen will discuss how a strong sense of ethics and values helped her achieve business leadership. She also will comment on the significant role of ethics and values in attracting and retaining talent.
Following the speech, which is free and open to members of the media and Pitt students, faculty, staff, and alumni, Allen will take questions from the audience. (Members of the media are asked to identify themselves as such during the question-and-answer session.)
Allen was recently named to "Forbes" magazine's "100 Most Powerful Women in the World for 2007" and is the magazine's highest-ranking woman of a "Big Four" professional services and accounting firm. In addition, "Directorship" magazine named her one of its 2007 "Top 100 influential leaders in corporate governance."
Allen's leadership on workplace issues earned her the Work Life Legacy Award from the Families and Work Institute this past spring. Additionally, the Chicago Bar Association devoted its summer ethics conference to a dialogue on her findings. Allen said she was drawn to the University of Pittsburgh because of its commitment to the integration of ethics into its business curricula, most notably through the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership.
