University of Pittsburgh to Host Lecture Series By Chinese Sociologist Li Yinhe
PITTSBURGH-Li Yinhe, one of the most well known sociologists in China, will give three lectures at Pitt Sept. 17-19. A professor and researcher at the Institute of Sociology at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, Li Yinhe has published a significant number of research books and articles in Chinese and English on homosexuality in China, sexuality and love of Chinese women, and feminism. She is among the first sociologists in China to research homosexuality issues.
Li Yinhe received her PhD degree in sociology from Pitt in 1988. She completed her post-doctoral work at the Institute of Sociology at Peking University from 1988 to 1990 and was an associate professor at the same institute from 1990 to 1992.

"Changing Sexuality in China," 4 p.m. Sept. 17, Lower Lounge, William Pitt Union, 3959 Fifth Ave., Oakland;
"Gender Equality in China," 4 p.m. Sept. 18, Lower Lounge, William Pitt Union; and
"Homosexuality in China," 7 p.m. Sept. 19, Room 324, Cathedral of Learning, 4200 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
The event is cosponsored by the University Center for International Studies' Asian Studies Center and the University Library System's East Asian Library.
