Pitt's Learning Policy Center Launches 2007-08 Colloquium Series
PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh's Learning Policy Center (LPC) will launch its 2007-08 colloquium series with guest speakers Deborah Ball, dean of the University of Michigan's School of Education, and Paul Goren, vice president of the Spencer Foundation, at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 19, in Room 5604 Posvar Hall, 230 S. Bouquet St., Oakland.
The discussion will focus on the questions "What is research in education, and what makes it both special and essential?" Using a sample of studies that exemplify this educational perspective, Ball and Goren will raise challenges for researchers in schools of education.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Sarah Coon at 412-624-7050.
The LPC is a new University center with the mission of advancing ideas that encompass both education policy and research on teaching and learning.
