Contact:

PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh School of Education's Falk Laboratory School will hold the first of three Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meetings at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18, with tours of the temporary modular structure that will be used for classes during construction of the school's new addition at 4060 Allequippa St., Oakland.

The event will commence at 7:30 p.m. with a meet-and-greet between guests and Falk teachers in the schools cafeteria. At approximately 7:50 p.m., Falk School Director Wendell McConnaha will give opening remarks, followed by the tour, which will include teachers' presentations in each of the schools instructional areas.

In May 2007, Falk School held a ground breaking for the new addition. Approximately 275 students from kindergarten through eighth grade attend the school, learning traditional and technical subjects, languages, as well as the visual and performing arts. The new addition will enable the school to increase enrollment to more than 400 students.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Wendell McConnaha at 412-624-8022.
