Pitt to Sponsor "America on the Move" with Free Ice Skating Session Feb. 16
PITTSBURGH-As part of the national program "America on the Move," the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Health and Physical Activity will host free ice skating at Schenley Park from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 16, featuring KDKA-TV Morning News Anchor Sonni Abatta.
The program encourages the city's residents to eat less and get moving with fun, effective activities.
The "America on the Move" plan is based on scientific research Professor John Jakicic conducted in Pitt's Physical Activity and Weight Management Research Center. Jakicic is director of the center, chair of Pitt's health and physical activity department, and organizer of "America on the Move" in Pittsburgh.
"This is a call to action," said Jakicic. "We are combining the necessary tools with the implementation steps to help individuals make meaningful lifestyle changes related to activity, diet, and body weight."
