Pitt's Matthew B. Ridgway Speaker Series to Present a Lecture by William Danvers: "National Security Policy: Challenges for the New Administration and Congress," Oct. 30

PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh's Matthew B. Ridgway Center for International Security Studies will present a lecture by William Danvers, who has worked on public policy issues in Washington, D.C., for more than 25 years, as part of its speaker series. Danvers will present a free public lecture titled "National Security Policy: Challenges for the New Administration and Congress" at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in Room 1500, Posvar Hall, 230 S. Bouquet St., Oakland.

Danvers is an expert in domestic and international economic policy, defense, national security, and international affairs. During the Clinton Administration, he was senior director for legislative affairs at the National Security Council and a special assistant to the President for National Security Affairs.

Prior to his service in the Executive Branch, Danvers served as chief economic advisor to U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman. In this capacity, he advised Lieberman on trade, international economic issues, taxation, and appropriations. Danvers also worked in the U.S. House of Representatives as staff director for the Banking Subcommittee on International Trade, Finance, and Monetary Policy. He began his career on Capitol Hill as a legislative assistant and press secretary for a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
