Pitt to Present Global Studies Lecture Nov. 18: "What Will It Really Take to Realize the Universal Declaration of Human Rights? Human Rights Work on the Ground"
PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh will present a lecture titled "What Will It Really Take to Realize the Universal Declaration of Human Rights? Human Rights Work on the Ground" at noon Nov. 18, 3610 Posvar Hall, 230 S. Bouquet St., Oakland. The lecture, which is part of Pitt's Global Studies Colloquium, will be given by Lyn Beth Neylon, a legal and gender specialist who oversaw women's legal rights projects in Benin and Rwanda from 2004 to 2007.
Neylon's free public lecture will explain how virtually any profession provides opportunities for human rights work; the lecture is based on her personal experience.
Neylon was formerly the associate director of the Washington Kurdish Institute. She also ran a human rights consulting business in Washington, D.C.,-working with nongovernmental organizations and government agencies on a variety of human rights issues.
