PITTSBURGH-Twenty Pitt College of Business Administration students recently won a national marketing competition sponsored by Nissan Motor Company, Ltd. The Nissan Cube Collegiate Challenge invited college students to compete in raising awareness for the automobile on their respective campuses.

Pitt was one of two schools selected out of 10 participating universities to present its integrated marketing campaign to Nissan executives. Five students representing the Pitt team, along with Pitt business professor Robert Gilbert, were invited to the company's headquarters in Nashville, Tenn., where the team won first place and a $3,000 cash prize.

The winning students, Mark Boucher, Amanda McCabe, Jaclyn McCormick, Melissa Nowaczyk, and Jake Pasini, were enrolled in Gilbert's Projects in Marketing class, which provides students with hands-on marketing experience. Gilbert is an associate professor of business administration in Pitt's Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

Pitt is no stranger to winning first place in automotive marketing competitions. Pitt CBA teams also took home first prize during the spring 2006 and spring 2008 Honda competitions, where Pitt students marketed the Honda Fit crossover vehicle and Accord Coupe, respectively.
