Pitt's Asian Studies Center to Celebrate Mahatma Gandhi's Teachings Oct. 3
PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh will celebrate the 140th anniversary of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi with interfaith prayers and performances by members of the local Indian community. Hindu physicist V. V. Raman of the Rochester Institute of Technology will lead a discussion titled "The Multi-faceted Gandhi for Modern Times." Pittsburgh city councilman Bill Peduto also will deliver remarks. The event will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 3 in the Bellefield Hall Auditorium, 315 S. Bellefield Ave., Oakland.
The event is sponsored by Pitt's Asian Studies Center within the University Center for International Studies; Alliance for Humanitarian Initiatives, Nonviolence, and Spiritual Advancement; and the Sri Venkateswara Temple.
