Pitt's Center for Latin American Studies to Present Second Annual "The Americas-In Concert" Nov. 21
PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh's Center for Latin American Studies, a component of the University Center for International Studies, along with Med Health Services and Pittsburgh Cardiovascular Institute will present the Octavio Brunetti Quintet in the second annual "The Americas-In Concert." The free public concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 in the Frick Fine Arts Auditorium, 650 Schenley Dr., Oakland.
Created by Octavio Brunetti, Tango pianist and arranger, the quintet combines the traditional roots of Argentine Tango in its purest form with the style of the Tango Nuevo. The quintet has performed in some of Argentina's best-known venues, including the famous Teatro Colón and Teatro San Martín in Buenos Aires and Teatro San Martín in Córdoba.
The event also will feature performances by some of Pittsburgh's own talents, including Ernesto Contenti, bandoneón master and tenor, and Lilly Abreu, soprano.
"The Americas-In Concert" is a series of annual concerts sponsored by Med Health Services and Pittsburgh Cardiovascular Institute in collaboration with the Center for Latin American Studies to promote the development of local and national professional musicians, while exposing Pittsburgh's general public to the musical works of the Americas, from North to South.
