Pitt Offers Planning Session Titled "Alternative Careers in Asian Studies"

PITTSBURGH—The Asian Studies Program and Career Services Placement Center at the University of Pittsburgh are offering a career planning session titled "Alternative Careers in Asian Studies" from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Lower Lounge of the William Pitt Union, 3959 Fifth Ave. The program will allow undergraduate and graduate students to hear firsthand what others have accomplished professionally using their Asian studies degrees.
The speakers will include Lynette Clemetson, national correspondent for Newsweek magazine, who has earned a master's degree in East Asian studies from Pitt in 1994; Randy Jones, owner of MRI Management, a consulting firm in New York City, who earned a master's degree in public and international affairs at Pitt in 1994 with a certificate in East Asian studies; Richard Morse, a consultant for ThoughtBridge Corporation, a firm specializing in negotiation and conflict resolution, who earned a bachelor's degree in East Asian studies from Middlebury College in 1989 and a master's degree in education from Boston University in 1993; and Dianne Dakis, assistant director for student affairs in Pitt's Asian Studies Program.
Available at the session will be information on new scholarship opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and minority students to study languages in Asia or pursue research in an Asian-related field.
