Pitt to Host Teen HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

PITTSBURGH—The Center for Minority Health at the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health (GSPH) and California University of Pennsylvania will cosponsor "Teen HIV/AIDS Awareness Day" from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the University Club, 121 University Place, as part of "Educating Teens about HIV/AIDS Month."
The event will feature a video presentation, "20 Years of HIV/AIDS," as well as talks by Steven Thomas, director of the Center for Minority Health at Pitt's GSPH, and Ann Denise Sapida, founder of CHAMPS 4 KIDS, a local, grassroots organization that educates children about HIV/AIDS. A panel discussion titled "People Living with HIV/AIDS" will be facilitated by Karen Reddick, an AIDS educator in Pitt's Center for Minority Health.
The event is free, and parents are encouraged to bring their teenagers.
