Pitt's International Studies Director Selected To AIEA Executive Board

PITTSBURGH—William I. Brustein, director of the University Center for International Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, has been named to the executive board of the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA). His three-year term begins March 2003.

Formed in 1982, AIEA's institutional membership includes those individuals designated by their college or university as principal international education administrators. Associate membership is open to other individuals at colleges or universities with institutional membership. Affiliate membership applications are invited by AIEA from organizations and individuals interested in international education administration.

AIEA exists to provide an effective voice on significant issues within international education at all levels, improve and promote international education programming and administration within institutions of higher education, establish and maintain a professional network among international education institutional leaders, and cooperate in appropriate ways with other national and international groups having similar interests.

Brustein also is a sociologist on the faculty in the Department of Sociology within Pitt's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He earned the bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Connecticut, the master's degree in sociology at the University of Washington, the master's degree in international studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and the Ph.D. degree in sociology from the University of Washington.
