Preserving China's Musical Heritage
PITTSBURGH—What do you get when you put an erhu, a pipa, a yangqin, a zheng, a ruan, and a dizi together? Music From China—of course! These ancient Chinese instruments, in the hands of musicians trained in the most prestigious conservatories and national orchestras in China, make compelling melodies of both traditional and contemporary Chinese music. Music From China will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday,
Feb. 21 in Bellefield Hall Auditorium, 315 S. Bellefield Ave., Oakland.
Founded in 1984, Music From China has been presented in concerts and residencies in New York City and throughout the United States. Under executive director and founder Susan Cheng, the group strives to preserve the musical heritage of China among the Chinese American community.
Admission for Pitt students is free. Advance ticket prices are: general admission,
