Musician Graham Nash to Sign New Book of Photography at Pitt's Frick Fine Arts Auditorium

Contact:

PITTSBURGH—Singer and photographer Graham Nash will present a slide show of photographs and sign copies of his new book, Eye to Eye: Photographs by Graham Nash (Distributed Art Publisher, 2004), at 7 p.m. July 17 in Pitt's Frick Fine Arts Auditorium, Schenley Drive, Oakland.

While best known as a founding member of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Nash also developed a parallel career as a photographer, collector, and partner in a digital imaging processing company called Nash Editions. Nash grew up watching his own father, an amateur photographer, develop and print his own images. He began to collect photographs in 1971, and by 1990, his collection had grown to more than 2000 prints. In that year, Nash made the transition from private collector to museum patron with a sizeable donation to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Nash's own photographs in Eye to Eye span the years 1953 to 2003. They include revealing portraits of family and friends, images of life on the road, still lifes and landscapes, street photographs, and a unique series of self portraits in which Nash is often reflected in windows and mirrors.

The presentation is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. For more information or to reserve a seat, call 412-648-1453 by July 15 or stop by the University Book Center at 4000 Fifth Ave., Oakland, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Autographs at the event are restricted to copies of Nash's book.
