Round-Table Discussion on Ukrainian Politics to Be Held at Pitt Dec. 4
PITTSBURGH—A round-table discussion titled "Ukraine's Choice: TAK! The Orange Revolution or Eastern Separatism" will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 4 in the University of Pittsburgh Cathedral of Learning's Room G13, 4200 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
The Shevchenko Scientific Society of Western Pennsylvania, the Ukrainian Humanitarian and Cultural Institute, and Pitt's Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures' Ukrainian Program are sponsoring the free public event.
Members of Pittsburgh-Donets'k sister-city committee and Ukrainian and American scholars involved in U.S.-sponsored exchange programs with eastern and southern regions of the Ukraine will discuss such topics as the emergence of real nation-building in the Ukraine, the monolithic Russian speaking population in the Ukraine, ethnic groups of the multicultural Ukrainian East and South, and the popular image of separatist Donets'k in the Ukraine and abroad. In addition, Pittsburgh residents who supported the Pittsburgh Donets'k community connection will share their experiences.
