"The Romantic Flute" Concert Featuring Musicians Yee-ha Chiu And Barbara O'Brien Rescheduled for March 1

PITTSBURGH—Musicians Yee-ha Chiu (piano) and Barbara O'Brien (flute) will give a rescheduled performance, (the Jan. 22 concert was cancelled due to inclement weather), at the University of Pittsburgh, titled "The Romantic Flute," as part of the Heinz Chapel Pittsburgh Artists Series, at 8 p.m., March 1, Heinz Memorial Chapel, Fifth and Bellefield avenues, Oakland. The series is part of the chapel's larger Trio of Concerts Series.

Born in Hong Kong, Chiu is on the celebrated roster of Steinway artists. She graduated from the Royal College of Music in London and the Julliard School of Music in New York City. A soloist for many performances throughout Asia and the United States, Chiu is also part of the Duo Grishman-Chiu and the New England Piano Trio. She has performed with the London Philharmonic and the Vienna Symphony and taught piano at the Julliard School and Duquesne University.

O'Brien is the principal flutist with the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra, the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, and Renaissance City Winds, and is second flutist in the Pittsburgh Ballet Orchestra. Principal flute of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic for five years, O'Brien earned the music performance degree at Duquesne University. She has given numerous solo and chamber performances, including her concerts with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Spoleto Festival Orchestra.

The series will culminate with the April 16 performance titled, "…And stars will appear," by the University of Pittsburgh String Quartet. Admission is $12 for each concert.
