Pitt Program Council to Host "An Evening with Def Poet J. Ivy," Feb. 28
PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh Pitt Program Council will host "An Evening with Def Poet J. Ivy," at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 28 in the William Pitt Union Assembly Room, 3959 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
A Chicago native, Ivy blends his poetry with hip-hop, creating a renowned musical wordplay, which has garnered him success. He often performs at colleges throughout the United States, and has shared the stage with Patti Labelle, Bob Dylan, and Erykah Badu, among others.
Ivy's television credits include an appearance on Russell Simmons' Def Poetry, B.E.T.'s Lyric Café, and various MTV shows. He has recorded with artists Jay-Z, the Wu-Tang Clan, and recently recorded with Kayne West on the album College Dropout (2004).
