Director and Producer Michael Pressman to Speak at Pitt

PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh, in conjunction with Pitt in Hollywood and The Oaks Theater, will present a lecture with director and producer Michael Pressman, from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, April 18, in Room 501 of the University of Pittsburgh Cathedral of Learning, 4200 Fifth Ave., Oakland.

The free public presentation will include comments, recollections, and clips from some of Pressman's films, including his new film, Frankie and Johnny Are Married. Pitt lecturer and Pitt in Hollywood advisor Carl Kurlander will moderate the event.

Pressman began his career as an actor, studying theater at Carnegie-Mellon University, and continued in filmmaking, directing such features as Those Lips; Those Eyes, with Tom Hulce; Doctor Detroit, starring Dan Aykroyd; and To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday, featuring Michelle Pfeiffer, based on the play by Michael Brady. Most recently, Pressman has directed several acclaimed television dramas, including Chicago Hope; Law & Order; The Guardian, where he filmed on location in downtown Pittsburgh; Boston Public; The Practice; and Picket Fences, for which he won two Emmy's. In addition, he directed such films as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II and The Bad News Bears.
