UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH FOOD SERVICES LAUNCHES 9TH BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION
PITTSBURGH, Feb. 16 -- The University of Pittsburgh Food Services will celebrate Black History Month with an ethnic dinner and recognition of African-American faculty and staff on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. in the University's Towers Cafeteria, Oakland.
The event is open to the public and admission is $7.50, including dinner.
This year's theme is "EDUCATION FOR ADVANCEMENT," with the future of affirmative action in mind. African-American faculty and staff whose efforts and dedication have promoted the advancement of African-American education will be recognized.
The event will include soul food cuisine, important aspects of African, Caribbean, and African-American culture including art, poetry, music and history.
Entertainment will include, "Jabali Afrika," "Third World Theory," and a step show by three student groups.
Students from different schools and organizations, such as the A. Leo Weil Elementary School, Frick International, Wilkinsburg High School, and the local YMCA, are also invited to share in the celebration.
