UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH CALENDAR OF EVENTS
The following events at the University of Pittsburgh are open to the public and cover the time period, June 8 - June 14.
PERFORMANCE
6/12 Pitt's Indian Nationality Room Committee, Pitt's Center for the Performing Arts of India, and the dancers of the Kala Niketan Dance Ensemble in Pittsburgh and Kuchipudi Art Academy in India present the dance drama "Chandalika" based on the 1933 play by Rabindranath Tagore. It will be performed in the Asian Indian classical dance style known as Kuchipudi. The program will be conducted by the legendary Kuchipudi maestro, Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam. Byham Theatre, Pittsburgh, 8 p.m. Tickets are $18, $25, or $50 (tickets may also be bought at the same time for a June 28th Indian dance performance of "Ardha Nareeswara" at a discounted price).
