INSIGHTS INTO THE DALAI LAMA, CHINA AND TIBET TO BE SHARED AT PITT, OCT. 15
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 28 -- Dr. Melvyn Goldstein, one of the foremost leaders in Tibetan studies, will discuss the Dalai Lama, China and the future of Tibet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15 at the University of Pittsburgh.
The lecture is presented by Pitt's Asian Studies Program and will be held in Room 3K56 of the Forbes Quadrangle Building, 230 S. Bouquet Street, behind Hillman Library in Oakland.
Goldstein is a J.R. Harkness professor, chair of the department of Anthropology and director of the Center for Research on Tibet at Case-Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. His recent publication, "A History of Modern Tibet, 1913-1951, The Demise of the Lamaist State," is considered to be one of the most comprehensive books on modern Tibetan history.
