PITT'S TELECOMMUNICATIONS PROGRAM RECEIVES $250,000 IN EQUIPMENT FROM CISCO SYSTEMS, INC.

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 13 -- The telecommunications program in the School of Information Sciences (SIS) at the University of Pittsburgh recently received equipment valued at $252,250 from Cisco Systems, the world-wide leader in networking for the Internet.

The equipment contributed will be placed in the telecommunications research lab to support the program's ongoing research and instruction, particularly in asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switch technology and other areas related to the telecommunications field.

The University of Pittsburgh School of Information Sciences educates information professionals for a wide range of specializations in the information field. The School's focus is on the integration of people, knowledge and technology within a system context for decision making, problem solving and learning.
