PITT HOLDS FOLK TALE SATURDAYS IN THE NATIONALITY ROOMS

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 20 -- Stories of princesses, heroes, and ghosts will tweak the imagination of children as Molly Richman, University of Pittsburgh student and Quo Vadis guide, recounts folk tales in various Nationality Rooms this fall. The Early American Room ghost story will be told to celebrate Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m., in that Cathedral of Learning classroom.

Richman, who conducts the regular Nationality Room tours, came up with the idea for the Folk Tale Saturdays. "I love telling stories and do so often," said Richman. "Children can be swept away on the wonder of a well-told tale. What better way to introduce them to countries from around the world!"

Parents and children begin their journey for all Folk Tale Saturdays at the Nationality Room information and gift shop near the Cathedral's Fifth Avenue entrance. The stories are recommended for children age four to nine. Cost is $1 for children and $.50 for parents. Proceeds go to Quo Vadis, the student organization that leads Nationality Room tours.
