Contact:

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 1 -- "Billie Holiday," a tribute to the legendary jazz singer written and directed by Vernell Lillie, founder and artistic director of the University of Pittsburgh's Kuntu Repertory Theatre, has been held over at Dowe's on 9th.

Performances, which begin at 8 p.m., have been added for Dec. 4, 11,

and 18.

Based on Lillie's play, "Crawford Grill Presents Billie Holiday!", and starring Sandy Dowe, "Billie Holiday" centers on an evening in 1957 when Holiday, accompanied by local jazz legends that include Billy Eckstine, performed at the famed Crawford Grill in the Hill District. It features music from that era, including many of Holiday's classics, such as "No Regrets," "Willow Weep," "Ain't Nobody's Business," and "All of Me."

Dowe's on 9th, a popular Pittsburgh jazz club, is located at 121 Ninth Street, in the city's Cultural District. For more information, or for dinner and show reservations, call 412-281-9225.
