Contact:

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 5 -- The presentation of "Billie Holiday," a tribute to the legendary jazz singer written and directed by Vernell Lillie, founder and artistic director of the University of Pittsburgh's Kuntu Repertory Theatre, has again been held over at Dowe's on 9th, the popular Pittsburgh jazz club.

"Billie Holiday" will be presented each Monday in January, with performances beginning at 8 p.m.

Based on Lillie's play, "Crawford Grill Presents Billie Holiday!", and starring Sandy Dowe, "Billie Holiday" centers on an evening in 1957 when Holiday, accompanied by local jazz legends that include Billy Eckstine, performed at the famed Crawford Grill in the Hill District. It features music from that era, including many of Holiday's classics, such as "No Regrets," "Willow Weep," "Ain't Nobody's Business," and "All of Me."

Dowe's on 9th is located at 121 Ninth Street, in the city's Cultural District. For more information, or for dinner and show reservations, call
