PITT'S GRADUATE SCHOOL OF PUBLIC AND INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS OFFERS THIRD ETHICS AND ACCOUNTABILITY LECTURE

PITTSBURGH, March 13 -- The Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) at the University of Pittsburgh will host the third in a series of lectures dealing with ethics and accountability when it presents, "Ethical Challenges of the Genetic Age," at 4 p.m., on Thursday, March 29, in Room 2K56 of Posvar Hall,

230 S. Bouquet Street on the Pitt campus.

Speaking on the issue will be Allan Buchanan, professor of philosophy at the University of Arizona.

The lecture series is part of a two-year pilot program on Ethics and Accountability in Public and Nonprofit Organizations funded by LaVonne and Glen Johnson. LaVonne Johnson earned her master's degree in public administration from GSPIA in 1980. Besides the lecture series, the program will include a regional conference on ethics and accountability and an international conference on policy and research issues related to ethics, accountability, and social responsibility in the public sector.

The final lecture in the series, "The Politics of Transparency: Openness and Accountability in Multinational and Supranational Organizations," will be offered on Wednesday, April 11. It will feature as its speaker Ann Florini, senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
