CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS TO SPEAK AT PITT
PITTSBURGH, March 23 -- The University of Pittsburgh's Graduate Program for Cultural Studies and the Department of English will host author Christopher Hitchens on Friday, April 6, at 7 p.m., in the Frick Fine Arts Auditorium, Room 125. The event is free and open to the public.
Hitchens will be available for book signing and a question and answer session following his speech, Portrait of a War Criminal: The Trial of Henry Kissinger.
In a critique of Hitchen's book, Amazon.com said, "In his compact and incendiary book, Hitchens argues that the US is home to an individual whose record of war crimes bears comparisons with the worst dictators of recent history. Kissinger's involvement in the war in Indochina, mass murder in Bangladesh, planned assassinations in Santiago, Nicosia, and Washington DC, and genocide in East Timor draws on first-hand testimony, previously unpublished documentation, and materials released under the Freedom of Information Act."
A regular columnist for Vanity Fair and The Nation, Hitchens' previous books include Hostage for History, The Elgin Marbles, For the Sake of Argument, The Missionary Position, No One Left To Lie To, and Unacknowledged Legislation.
