12/7 Pitt’s Department of Music presents the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s free public performance of Antonin Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance, Op. 46 No. 1; Tison Street’s Fantasia for six cellos; J.S. Bach’s  Concerto in C Minor for oboe, violin, strings, and basso continuo; and Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in D flat, at 8 p.m., Bellefield Hall Auditorium, 315 S. 12/7 Pitt award-winning poet and professor of English Toi Derricotte will debut her new book The Undertaker’s Daughter (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2011) during a book launch that includes a reading and book signing from 7 to 9 p.m. at The University Club, 123 University Place, Oakland. 12/9 Elizabeth Anderson, John Rawls Collegiate Professor of Philosophy and Women’s Studies and Arthur F. Thurnau Professor at the University of Michigan, will deliver a free lecture titled “The Imperative of Integration: Race and Education” at noon at Pitt’s Center on Race and Social Problems, 20th floor, Cathedral of Learning, 4200 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
