Through 5/1 The University Library System presents an exhibition of first editions and significant works of Charles Dickens, Room 363, Hillman Library, 3960 Forbes Ave., Oakland. The rare books are holdings of Pitt’s Darlington Memorial Library. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 28, an open house will take place in Room 363, showcasing the Dickens books as well those of Dickens’ contemporaries. CONFERENCE

3/24 Pitt’s Department of Music is hosting an international symposium titled “New Research in Asian and American Music” from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Music Building, 4337 Fifth Ave., Oakland. The symposium honors Pitt Professor of Music Bell Yung for his 31 years of teaching at the University. Eight of Yung’s former students and four of his current students will present at the symposium.
