Skoll Foundation CEO to Deliver April 5 Lecture on Social Change and Entrepreneurs at Pitt
PITTSBURGH—The Philanthropy Forum in the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Affairs (GSPIA) will present a lecture by philanthropist Sally Osberg, president and CEO of the Skoll Foundation, a nonprofit organization that seeks to connect social entrepreneurs and innovators in an effort to solve problems around the world. Osberg will present a lecture titled “Partners and Possibilities: Our Journey With Social Entrepreneurs” at 2 p.m. April 5 in the Assembly Room at the William Pitt Union, 3959 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
Responding to Osberg’s lecture will be Pitt alumnus and trustee William E. Strickland Jr. (A&S ’70), president and chief executive officer of Manchester Bidwell Corporation, and Jane Werner, executive director of the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. The lecture is free and open to the public but does require registration; to attend, RSVP to gspiapf@pitt.edu.
Osberg has led entrepreneurial organizations and been an agent for social change throughout her career. As president and CEO of the Skoll Foundation, she partners with founder and foundation chair Jeff Skoll in identifying and supporting innovators with realistic solutions to global challenges.
Osberg serves on the boards of the Skoll Foundation, the Skoll Global Threats Fund, the Oracle Education Foundation, and the Palestine-based Partners for Sustainable Development. She has received the John Gardner Leadership Award from the American Leadership Forum, been inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame, and been named by the San Jose Mercury News as one of the “Millennium 100” for her role in shaping and leading Silicon Valley.
