O’Neil Outar Named Interim Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement
PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh has named O’Neil Outar interim vice chancellor for institutional advancement, a position he will fill while the University conducts its search for a permanent vice chancellor for development and alumni relations.
Outar, who begins at Pitt on Aug. 15, comes to Pitt from Harvard University. There, he worked as the senior associate dean and director of development for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. As chief development officer for Harvard’s largest academic unit, Outar set the strategic direction of all fundraising activity for the $2.5 billion Campaign for Arts and Sciences within the $6.5 billion Harvard Campaign.
In addition to his post at Harvard, Outar has served as the vice president in the Office of Advancement for the University of Alberta; the senior director in the Office of Global Initiatives for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and the director of the Fund for Arts, Sciences and Engineering at his alma mater, Tufts University.
