Pitt's Swanson Institute for Technical Excellence To Host RFID Conference
PITTSBURGH-Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is transforming industry, and the University of Pittsburgh is at the cutting edge of its development. On Tuesday, June 28, the Swanson Institute for Technical Excellence in Pitt's School of Engineering will host the conference "RFID: Hype, Reality, and Hope" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 5th floor of Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
Leading RFID researcher Marlin H. Mickle, Nickolas A. DeCecco Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, and Industrial Engineering at Pitt, will be the featured speaker.
The conference is presented in cooperation with Mobile Aspects, Inteligistics, FOX IV Technologies, Vocollect, SSI, E-SOC, GlaxoSmithKline, Paxar Corporation, and Del Monte Foods.

The Swanson Institute for Technical Excellence encompasses the Swanson Center for Micro and Nano Systems (SCMNS) and the Swanson Center for Product Innovation (SCPI). The SCMNS, a collaboration between School of Engineering faculty and staff and industry partners, offers opportunities for industry partners to work with faculty in developing intellectual property and represents the school's focus on applied research in the areas of micro and nano systems. The SCPI gives industry and entrepreneurs access to the University's state-of-the-art product development technology through the consulting services of its students, faculty, and staff.
