Novelist Dan Chaon to Speak at Pitt Oct. 18
PITTSBURGH-Novelist Dan Chaon will give an evening reading at the University of Pittsburgh as part of the Pittsburgh Contemporary Writers Series at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 18 in the Frick Fine Arts Building Auditorium, Schenley Drive, Oakland. This event is free and open to the public.
Author of several collections of short stories, including Fitting Ends (Northwestern University Press, 1996) and You Remind Me of Me (Ballantine Books, 2004), Chaon has had his stories published in the 1996 and 2003 editions of Best American Short Stories (Houghton Mifflin), the 2000-03 editions of The Pushcart Prize (Pushcart), and the O'Henry Prize Stories (Anchor, 2001). Chaon's book, Among the Missing (Ballantine Books, 2001), was a finalist for the 2001 National Book Award and was listed as one of the best 10 books of 2001 by The American Library Association, The Chicago Tribune, and Entertainment Weekly, among others.
Chaon earned the B.A. degree at Northwestern University and the M.A. degree at Syracuse University. He is an associate professor of creative writing at Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio.
The Pittsburgh Contemporary Writers Series, which runs through April 4, 2007, is cosponsored by the Wyndham Garden Hotel-University Place and Pitt's Book Center, University of Pittsburgh Press, and Creative Nonfiction and Film Studies Programs.
