University of Pittsburgh ROTC, Carnegie Mellon ROTC to Present Sept. 11 Memorial Service
PITTSBURGH-This Friday, Sept. 11, the University of Pittsburgh's Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) together with Carnegie Mellon University's ROTC will present a public memorial service in remembrance of the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. The service, honoring those who fell on the day of the attacks and those who serve in the global war on terror, will take place at 10 a.m. on the Cathedral of Learning lawn, at the intersection of Bigelow Boulevard and Fifth Avenue.
Joseph Alessi, Lieutenant Colonel, Infantry at United States Army, will speak at the memorial. Alessi is a professor of military science at Pitt. Major Todd Looney of Pitt's ROTC will provide a narration of events.
