Pitt Students and Staff to Debut on As The World Turns Nov. 12
November 7, 2002
PITTSBURGH—As the World Turns, the Emmy award-winning CBS daytime drama, will feature University of Pittsburgh students, staff, Pitt's Frick Fine Arts Building, and area residents on the episode airing at 2 p.m. Nov. 12 on KDKA-TV, channel 2.
The show's traveling "Catch Us If You Can" bus tour rolled on to the Pitt campus in August to cast Pitt students and other acting hopefuls for the episode, filmed on Sept. 19. Two Pitt students earned speaking parts: Rob Feinberg, a freshman in Pitt's College of Arts and Sciences from Maple Glen, Pa.; and Christy Biberich, a Pitt junior majoring in theater arts from Grove City, Pa.
In the story, "Aaron Snyder" (Agim Kaba), his girlfriend, "Lucy Montgomery" (Peyton List), and their friend, "Alison Stewart" (Jessica Dunphy), run away from home after Aaron is falsely accused of setting a fire. The three characters travel to 10 college campuses hoping to elude both their parents and the law until they can prove Aaron's innocence.
In addition to Feinberg and Biberich, eight members of the Pitt Glee Club performed during the episode. Several other Pitt students, staff members, and community locals served as extras in the scene, which is depicted as a "Freshman Family Weekend" reception. As The World Turns casting director Mary Clay Boland chose from approximately 400 people who turned out for the August casting call.
When not touring the country, As The World Turns, a Procter & Gamble Production, tapes in Brooklyn, N.Y. Christopher Goutman is the show's executive producer.
