PITT GREEKS AND ATHLETICS TO HOST "CAMPUS CLASSIC"
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 2 -- The University of Pittsburgh Greeks along with Pitt's Athletic Department will sponsor the "Campus Classic," a 5K run/3K walk to benefit the Children's Hospital Free Care Fund on Saturday, Nov. 7 starting in Schenley Park at Frew Street and finishing inside Pitt Stadium. The walk begins at 9:15 a.m. and the run at 9:30 a.m.
Participants in the "Campus Classic" can register on race day from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at $8 for runners and $10 for walkers. The entry fee includes a Pittsburgh vs. Temple football ticket, Campus Classic T-shirt and light refreshments. Pre-race activities will be held in Schenley Park and post-race activities will be held in Pitt Stadium. The Athletic Department will be presenting prizes to those who place first, second, or third in both the men's and women's 5K Run.
Every year, the University's Greek community comes together in a series of events to support local charities. This year's beneficiary is the Children's Hospital Free Care Fund. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to families in the tri-state area whose children require medical care, regardless of the families' inability to pay or lack of access to health insurance.
