FORMER PITT REGISTRAR WILL RETURN THIS JULY
PITTSBURGH, April 23 -- Samuel D. Conte, associate vice president for enrollment services at Florida International University, has been named university registrar at the University of Pittsburgh, a position he held from 1986 to 1998. His appointment, announced by Provost James V. Maher, is effective July 1.
During his previous time at Pitt, Conte also worked as assistant director of student business services, associate director of management services and deputy director of the department of public safety.
Conte earned his doctorate in higher education administration from Pitt in 1982. He received his M.A. in criminology and psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1977 and his bachelor's degree from Pitt in 1970. He has taught at both Pitt and IUP, and has been a member of numerous professional organizations and committees.
Maher said, "I am delighted that Dr. Conte has accepted my invitation to return to his academic home. Dr. Conte's commitment to the University is deeply rooted and has long been recognized. I look forward to continuing to provide the institution with his consistently high level of dedication and exceptional service."
