PITT LAW SCHOOL'S BARCO LIBRARY RECEIVES MILLION DOLLARS TOWARD ENDOWMENT
PITTSBURGH, March 23 -- The University of Pittsburgh School of Law recently received a one million dollar gift from Yolanda G. Barco, Esq., to endow support for the George J. Barco and Yolanda G. Barco Law Library.
"The endowment funds provided by this wonderful gift ensure that the Barco Law Library has one of the world's best collections of legal materials," said David Herring, dean of Pitt's School of Law. "The incredible generosity of Yolanda Barco will provide substantial benefits to the School of Law's students and faculty, and to all the legal professionals and community members who use our library."
The gift to the George J. Barco and Yolanda G. Barco Permanent Endowment for Enhancement of the Law Library is in addition to the one million dollar gift given to establish the endowment in 1986. At that time, George J. Barco and his daughter Yolanda, graduates of Pitt's law school in 1934 and 1949 respectively, created the permanent endowment for the Law Library. It was the largest gift ever to be given to the School of Law.
The endowment provides funds to maintain excellence in Law Library services to respond fully to the teaching and research missions of the Law School as well as to provide a continuing learning resource for law practitioners.
