PITT TO HOST 35TH INTERNATIONAL CABARET BALL
PITTSBURGH, April 26 -- The University of Pittsburgh Nationality Rooms Program will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Lithuanian and Polish rooms at the 35th International Cabaret Ball on Saturday, May 13, at 6 p.m., in the William Pitt Union Assembly Room, Oakland.
Don Cannon, KDKA TV personality, will be the evening's emcee. Lithuanian and Polish cultures will highlight the Cabaret and dancing.
The Nationality Council, which sponsors the event annually, is the governing body of the Nationality Room committees that raise funds to provide summer scholarships for Pitt students to study abroad. Nationality Room scholarships in 2000 will enable 28 students to travel to Africa, Argentina, Austria, Bosnia, Brazil, People's Republic of China, Chile, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Mali, Mexico, Poland, Sweden, and Venezuela.
Tickets for the ball, which include a reception, buffet dinner, and dancing, are $25 per person, $15 for students. Call 412-624-6150 by May 5 to order tickets.
